A Summer Night Song
It was three o'clock in the morning
My two house cats had been waiting.
They sat quietly on the house floor
Waiting for me to open the door.
It's now early in July
The weather has been hot and dry.
Heat index has been soaring high
I've worked outside and watched the sunrise
I went to bed early last night
Having good sleep, I woke up with a smile.
I looked outside and watched the Summer starless sky
With white clouds carrying the moon's sweetest light.
The quietness of the night mesmerized me
While night freshness veiled sleeping trees.
The quiet night brought me a romantic smile
And a strong desire to be with my wife.
