A pyracantha heavy with berries red,
Climbs strongly from the flower bed,
And radiates a warm cheerful sight,
Its rich fruit, a hungry bird's delight.
A massive show in blood coloured hue,
Suspended there for nature to bestrew,
Abundance found, a treasure sought,
Such juicy fare autumn's season brought.
Fine sustenance for a long winter's chill,
Our feathered friends can now feast at will,
On flesh coated seeds, with thorns to protect,
Aliment hung before them, a tasty prospect.
Rich in colour and texture - a lovely piece of observation that puts a splash of colour into the grey of winter. Lovely Ernestine. Justine.
Abundance found, a treasure sought, Such juicy fare autumn's season brought. These lines are especially beautiful though it is all super. Such vivid description, Ernestine. A lovely piece to start the year with.
Ernestine, this is a very colorful, beautiful rich, charming, written poem.
It's said that when the bushes are heavy with berries we are in for a hard winter. Not too hard, I hope? I always feel sorry for our little feathered friends when they are sitting, puffed up and huddled up, in the bleakest weather. I like this poem. I can see those jolly red berries, worn like brooches on the branches, with a background of watery grey. Mother Nature's way of bringing cheer. Thank you, Ernestine. Love, Fran xxx
I like Alisons comments on this and I think that she says it all Anothe rbeautiful piece of art, so well painted in words, deserves to go up in a fine gallery Love duncan x

Lovely poem! I knew what a pyracantha is, but had to look up 'Aliment' (was confusing it with ailment, whoops) . Cool, a new word! To use in a sentence: Muhammad Ali-ment what he said about being hungry.. Thanks! Chuck
