एक रात गहरी नींद में ख्वाब देखते हुये वह उठा,
उसने देखा- कमरे में आने वाली चांदनी में,
जो खिली हुई लिली की तरह से थी समृद्ध-
एक फ़रिश्ता सोने की किताब में कुछ लिख रहा था.
प्रखर रूहानी तेज ने बिन आदम को निडर बना दिया था
और उसने कमरे में उपस्थित उस आकृति से कहा,
‘आप क्या लिख रहे हैं? '- उस आकृति ने सर उठाया,
और उसकी ओर प्यार से देखते हुए मीठी आवाज़ में उत्तर दिया,
'उन लोगों के नाम जो खुदा से मुहब्बत करते हैं'
'और क्या इसमें मेरा नाम भी है? ' अबू ने पूछा. 'न, नहीं है'
फ़रिश्ते ने जवाब दिया. फ़िर अबू ने दबे स्वर में
लेकिन प्रसन्नतापूर्वक कहा 'उस अवस्था में मेरी आपसे विनती है
कि आप मेरा नाम उनमे लिख लें जो उसके बन्दों से प्यार करते है'.
फ़रिश्ते ने कुछ लिखा और वहां से अंतर्ध्यान हो गया. अगली रात
वह फ़िर वहां आया पहले से अधिक चमकदार आभा के साथ
उसने उन लोगों की फेहरिस्त दिखाई जिनको खुदा का प्यार मिला था,
और लीजिये! अबू आदम का नाम फेहरिस्त के शीर्ष पर था.

Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw—within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich and like a lily in bloom—
An angel, writing in a book of gold.
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the presence in the room he said,
‘What writest thou? '—The vision raised its head,
And, with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered, ‘The names of those who love the Lord.'
‘And is mine one? ' said Abou. ‘Nay, not so, '
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerly still, and said, ‘I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men.'
The angel wrote and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
Why does the poet say may his tribe increase? Answer -Abou Ben Adhen is virtous man who did good to everyone. So the poet prays and blessed him, wishing that there should be more good people like him.
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold.............What is the Subtle meaning of this line? I do not want mere translation.
Everlasting peace which gave abou ben adhem the odescity to ask questions from the angel there.
" उस अवस्था में मेरी आपसे विनती है कि आप मेरा नाम उनमे लिख लें जो उसके बन्दों से प्यार करते है'." It's a wonderful experience to read both the translations and the Poet.
