After an hour’s incessant rain
On this cloudless evening
With the face of the sky
Washed clean
Globules of water
Have speckled the oiled surface
Of leaves on arching trees
They glisten in the evening light
Reflecting kaleidoscopic colors
As I look on, they dither,
Quiver, wobble and flutter
Each drop, in an effort to balance precariously,
Flops down one by one
With a sad refrain
Flip… plop, flip …plop
Leaving ripples in the puddles below
In the deep hush of Nature
On this twilight evening
Their distinct tinkling
Falls as music to my ears!
After the Rain is a lovely poem which is so pleasant to the heart!
Very pleasantly worded, Ma'm. A couple of days back I was to Kochi and Kayamkulam and happened to witness what you described. As I said before, you have an eye for details and are adept at description, two valuable assets a poet must necessarily possess. (10)
A vivid description to bring the readers into your moments of after the rain and the beauty in nature on display every day! I love this beautiful write!

After reading this poem I feel as if my senses have been magnified a thousand fold. Suddenly I can see the raindrops in slow motion, hear the music they play and feel wonder. Taking time to notice the beauty of nature is so important for happiness. Thank you again for another poem that floods my senses and helps me appreciate the world around me.

Their distinct tinkling Falls as music to my ears! That music is eternity itself. Everything is described all pleasantness. I wonder what the sad refrain was for. Beautiful poem that elated me with every drop. Thank you.
The rain drops want to cling on to leaves, but they lose their balance and fall down.... hence the sad refrain! Thank you sir!
