Against The Faiding Light Poem by Rose Marie Juan-austin

Against The Faiding Light

The silver of the sea
rolled back and forth,
breathing through its mists
that clung to our faces,
teasing our feet with its spray.

We smiled and laughed,
memorizing every detail
of our faces
as the setting sun wrapped us
in its warmth.

The glowing rays--
holding every color of the rainbow--
struck our eyes.
We silently wondered
how many more times
we would share these moments
before Time and Fate
pulled us apart.

We prayed:
For another long epoch,
and that fate
would fall in our favor.
