Amongst The Stars Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Amongst The Stars

There I sat,
Wishing upon a star.

Sitting in wait.
Thinking of you.

Wishing that by some twist of faith,
You'd come rushing into my life
Like a shooting star.

There I sat for moments longer.
But my wish never came true.

The stars twinkled and glistened.
Time no longer young, I continued to sit and wait.
Knowing it wouldn't be much longer.

Wishing that my shooting star would
come rushing into my life.
In the blink of an eye, needlessly waiting.

My eyes searched the countless number of stars.
Searching for the one that was mine.

Underneath the dark caress of the sky
I searched the twinkling stars. Wishing once more.

I sat and I watched.
Wishing once more to see my shooting star
