April Comes In A Sweet Way Poem by Cigeng Zhang

April Comes In A Sweet Way

Rating: 5.0

April comes in a sweet way
with tender hues and mild ray
Verdant branches of olives
Soften the wind of northwest

I follow in a sweet way
Back to April from a winter's tail
Breathe the scent of violet
Set free the doves from my heart

April comes in a happy way
I also come in a happy way
Tomorrow is full of possibility
in new start, new hope, new energy

I agree with what Anne says directly below: you have made April such a powerful metaphor for what is positive, healthy, influential the metaphor transfer to you and so YOU ARE APRIL. I like the movement in this poem as you develop a very fluid image of APRIL: at first April is a time period, one which tames the harshness of nature and brings in her sweetness; then, April becomes one of your attributes which is expressed in a breathtaking image- I SET FREE THE DOVES OF MY HEART. That is so wonderful! It's an experience that can exist in only two things: magic and poetry. And in the last stanza you assume the role of April to convey an awareness of the HAPPY WAY to all. What a generous poem, Cigeng! I believe those doves you released are blessing us here in the Twin Cities! !
