POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
रसूल मियाँ (रसूल अंसारी)बिहार के गोपालगंज जिले के जिगना गाँव के रहने वाले थे. वे गांधी जी के समकालीन थे और अपने भोजपुरी गीतों, अभिनय तथा लोक नाटकों द्वारा गांधी जी के संदेश को जन जन तक पहुंचाते रहे. निम्नलिखित मार्मिक गीत की रचना महात्मा गांधी की हत्या का समाचार मिलने के तुरंत बाद की गयी थी.

This emotional song was written by Rasool Miyan (Rasool Ansari)in the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination. Rasool Miyan, who hailed from village Jigna, Distt. Gopalganj, Bihar, was a contemporary of Gandhi ji and spread his message through his Bhojpuri poems, songs and plays presented on stage in folk style.

A fine elegy for Mahatma Gandhi and necessary condemnation of the killer. I saw a movie of this, I think it was titled just 'Gandhi'. Now your poem revives memories of that realist movie.

Rasool Miyan (or Rasool Ansari) has written this song feeling the deepest of sadness in inner core. This translation poem makes us very emotional. Tear comes our from eyes. Gandhi Ji is in our memory and he will remain ever in memory. An amazing poem is brilliantly penned.

I can imagine the intense pain and sorrow that Rasool Ansari went through when he wrote this terrific and poignant verse. The three shots stopped the heart beat of India. Rajnish ji by translating this verse, you have brought back history with a full force, a memory that can never be erased.......10
