At The Gates Poem by Smoky Hoss

At The Gates

Rating: 4.7

I stood at the river's edge
watching the water flow,
I saw turtles basking
upon an uprooted log-
I heard the melancholy geese
as southbound they flew, and
a distant sough came calling
like a contented old dog-
I glanced down and saw
the sunlight and water dance,
my mind left me, as I entered
a holy trance-
I looked and looked, and
finally I saw,
the glory of creation is
the Creator of it all-
Was it a miracle in this crazy world
turned upside down,
that somehow here, in simple peace,
the gates of Paradise I had found-
The air and the moment
so pure and clear; briefly
I felt the presence of Heaven
drawing everything near-

Smoky, first and mostly, I'm glad you had this moment. And let us be grateful always for how nature can ping us with beauty and reminds us of our Creator. Be well, brother. -Glen
