From the back cover of a book called
Wonders of Spiritual Unfoldment
It is obvious enough when one looks at the sky
That the sun is obscured when clouds pass by
With this natural act I’ll endeavour to show
How the problems of life diminish and go
For problems arise when we take by mistake
Changing scenes for our permanent state.
Within each of us shines a similar sun
Dependant on nothing, beholden to none
In all things sufficient, with freedom and bliss
It’s there from our birth, and it’s what a man is
Now that you may query, but look and you’ll find
How your sun gets hidden by clouds in the mind.
By John Butler
Thank you for sharing John Butler's shining poem! 'A poem opens a window in the prison wall...'
The second stanza has poetry written over it....but the 'beholden' part may not hold true in this pragmatic world. Humans (of yore and today's) always had (and will continue to have) how do I put it - 'constraints' which spill into abnormal behavior, such as crime and other desparate acts....cloud or no cloud. Yea..I'm a poet too... Yo Wojja....Wo..Wo! ! ! Cheers. Subroto
The soul like the sun For ever shines But for clouded vision the soul we malign CP
very visual indeed...great poetic portrayal...thanks for relaxing my mind, and your words have a great depth too.....10++
I love this poem, it ticks all the boxes for me. Especially like how you ponder on how the soul conveniently forgets that there is sunshine in us. Sometimes we are so hellbent on chasing clouds that we forget to check out the sunbeams. This poem pays testament to that. Love it. HG: -) xx
beautufl lines you gave us wojja takes a keen eye to pick up pearls from dusty shelfs cheers
Just as the sun in the heavens, gives light, warms our hearts our mind for free. Our own sun can in different ways achieve the same, and when we tune in to our own sun, we can also do it for free. Thank you for including this poem on your page.
