Barefoot Charm Poem by Lee Crowell

Barefoot Charm

Rating: 5.0

only one thing brings me to this place
only one thing makes my heart shine
you've got a barefoot long lady leg charm
you're the one thing on my mind

we drink cold beer on your midnight beach
we roll with the waves in the sea
I've been bound by the chains of a working life
and you're the one thing that sets me free

sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming
when I'm hammering hard with my crew
and it's an easier task to spike these studs
when the one thing I picture is you

now there's been such a dry spell between us
that I traveled all night to your door
but the stone faced landlord just told me
you're the one thing I won't see anymore

he sent me to the churchyard
I just don't know who's to blame
for this graveyard plot with its grey headstone
and the one thing it reads is your name

only one thing brings me to this place
only one thing makes my heart shine
I won't ever believe that you've gone away
cause you're the one thing on my mind

A strong and haunting ballad - love, life and death it's theme. I can almost hear it.
