Beautiful Bougainvilleas
Blooming all over
Throughout my garden
In vivid white
And pleasing pink
You appeal me so much
Though not at all fragrant
You appear
Magnificent in morning
Effervescent in evening
Needless to say
Devilish at night
Casting shadows under moonlight
When one such mid-night
When all and sundry slept
I heard a scream
Somewhere around its area
Counting hours I slept
Waking the next day morning
Only to find a mountain rat
Half eaten and lying under its bushes
Perhaps it’s my pet kitty
Who did all the damage!
I really enjoyed this one. You describe this flower so beautifully. Just smelling the aroma of those flowers is wonderful. Sad for the rat. Glad for the cat.
Very good imagery. Keep writing. I remember the bougainvilleas back home . It's lovely. Mohabeer Beeharry Read my poems sometimes. Thank you.
A sweet and lovely poem i first felt but at the end what's on my tongue, some bitter taste? That is ok becouse all I can think of now, its bitter sweeted chocolate, one of the best! ! 10
There are some nice themes in your piece that you could open up more to develop the poem. Ending was quite surprising, but it is different from the norm. Nice poem, look forward to seeing more.
49 comments? ? ? you must have lots of fans or do a lot of soliciting OR BOTH. I DO NOT have the same feelings found in some of the comments e.g. i do not find it beautiful nor moving nor great. But i did find it interesting and it WAS enjoyed by me as well. i especially liked: Beautiful Bougainvilleas Blooming..................................i like alliterations! and Needless to say Devilish at night Casting shadows under moonlight yes, probably a cat, not the bougainvillea! bri :)
It's a very moving poem...God is also beautiful and wonderful, yet there is injustice in this world; under HIs watchful eyes the strong oppress the weak..
It a lovely narrative poem. I like the articulation and the story. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

Nicely written poem. Pets are always sincere. Bougainvillea is also beautiful with flowers, but for the thorns in the plant.
