I am stronger because you've made me this way.
I've learned to laugh, to love.
Learned to endure hardships,
strive to achieve excellence.
I've learned to chase my dreams
rather than chasing rainbows and butterflies.
You gave me my wings,
but forced me to teach myself to fly
and I appreciate that more than anything.
Because you loved me,
I am able to succeed, to achieve.
Because you taught me,
I will teach forever.
Very Nice! It puts a positive twist on the negatives that always seem to accompany love. But I'm a little confused...is the intent aimed at parental love or a failed relationship? I can actually see it as relating to both.

I followed Nimal's lead to find you Amanda and I'm glad I did. This is a most uplifting poem of appreciation for someone who matters in your life. It is unpretentious and honest and filled with simple joy and optimism. The lines: I've learned to chase my dreams rather than chasing rainbows and butterflies.' stand out for me. Beautiful sentiments. love, Allie xxxx
