Behind Barbed Wire
Behind barbed wire fences
Are brave fighters for freedom...
Veterans who suffered
Such immeasurable
Monstrous acts of evil
Behind barbed wire fences
Are musicians and poets
Brave filmmakers and artistes...
Very courageous spirits
Fighting against all evil

I tried to give this five stars and the computer wouldn't accept my vote for some reason. Will try again later. Well done, Richard!
Greatly appreciate it, Kim! Receiving 5 stars from you is quite an honour!
This verse I will revisit next Remebrance Day. It is a reminder that the warrior, the one who offers resistance, may not, but does stand with the good soldier. A fantastic verse, Richard.
Thank you, M.J. Greatly appreciate whenever you revisit my poems. That shows me that I'm on the right track with my writes.
I absolutely love this analysis, the fight against evil can be in different battlefields one as a soldier the other an artist. I loved this Richard
Thank you kindly, Kevin. In my small way, I have been fighting that battle since secondary school, college and university. If it hadn't been for poetry, I would have lost that battle so long ago!
That's a percipient view Richard, the fight for freedom occurs in different ways. There's the soldiers who risk life in the battlefield, and the artist who risk the ability to express themselves in repressive regimes.
2) cont'd: Additionally, another kind of my love and respect goes out to all the artists who risk their lives in repressive regimes. Their passion for artistry and freedom supersedes all danger. And in some cases...LIFE!
