Bleeding Soil Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Bleeding Soil

Rating: 4.8

The old fragrant floral vines
Deeply rooted in cultural soil
On being pruned suiting time
Demands changing definition
The uprooting vegetation
Wounds the soil to bleed
Till the tradition oozes out
And a new plant emerges
Without a flower of colour
Or of scent dear to sense

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Culture and traditions are deeply embedded in a society. They contribute a sense of comfort and belonging. Culture is our way of life. Yet, the demands of time can change the same. A wonderful poem beautifully crafted and executed.

Thank you very much dear RMJ. When culture tradition is made to adapt to the present it will lose its subtlity beauty and character, In course of time it will be quite a different one

How beautifully you correlated the change of vegetations to the human culture. Indeed the tradition is being mixed with the western culture and slowly and gradually getting diluted. It will become flower without fragrance. Thoughtful poem 5******

Thank you very much Asim. You have rightly captured the soul of the poem.I am deeply wounded dilution of our culture and heritage adapting it to the need of time Cutting and pruning the flower plant can entail in its total ruin or the emergence of a new genus
