Blessed are the children,
For they know not what they do.
They live in worlds of innocence,
and swim in seas of truth.
Blessed are the children,
With their uncorrupted minds,
But isn't it a pity,
They grow older all the time.
And with their age,
They learn the trades,
That schools and peers,
will teach.
The wonders and the horrors,
That booze and drugs can bring,
And all too soon, we find them...
'Doing Time' for stupid things!
A poem by Dee Daffodil (H.W 1982)
This flowed nicely except the 3rd stanza which left me hanging for the rhyme. But I liked the message a lot. -chuck
I love everything about this poem, it can really teach the heart to stop and think, well done Dee, another gem from you, Love duncan
yep... Truthfully, I think we are all doing time for the stupid things we've done, whether it be in jail or elsewhere. Sowing and reaping... a concept we can't escape. dan
An awesome write Dee about our most precious of treasures, the true gift from God, our children. Our job as parents first and foremost is to nurture, protect and surround our children with loving hearts and arms, I always say and mean this, they 'THE CHILDREN' are our 'FUTURE'. Wonderful poem Dee, thankyou so much.--Melvina--
Dee, as a teenager, this hits home. A lot of my peers do exactly as this poem tells. You sound like a mother in this one. It is EXTREMELY well written!
All of us lose that innocence in the end sadly, but thankfully not all kids end up in the slammer. I'm assuming that most of them stay clear up your way too Dee. Lets hope that the numbers who stray can be reduced in the long term.Great sentiments and concern on display in this social comment poem - from someone in the midst of it! Excellent work Dee. xx
Isn't that the truth, you tell it like it is Dee and that's the way I like it. We must put our children first or we end up with 'Crisis of a child'. Melvina
Im not usually so keen on poems that rhyme, but this really caught me. Im one of these 'Children' you talk about and its nice to read something created in a lighthearted way but with a serious message about us 'Young'uns.' There isn't a trace of ignorance in this poem - you've seen it, you've experienced it, you understand it. Thanks.

I would like to translate this poem
'but isn't it a pity, they grow older all the time.', I second that. Nice one. Lizzy.x
