Blessings Of Life Poem by Bonnie Collins

Blessings Of Life

Rating: 5.0

Along time ago, there was
a man who met and fell in
love with a fairy princess,
well at least to him she was

The war came, and thier love
for one another seemed to
trully be tested by the fates
of time

Asking her to marry him was
the only thing he wanted to
do, as being in love and with
an obligation to war standing
in pride for is country, went off
with many prayers left behind

Nine months later came thier
first born, alone she gave birth
to him, while her husband was
off fighting in the war, bitter/sweetly
she felt as days went on praying to
God at least that her husband would
live to see his only son

Six months later home on leave he
arriived to see his lovely wife, and to
hold his son in his arms for the first time

Staring at him, lookng down, his mind
was thinking of how hard it would be to
go back now to leave his son and his
adoring wife

Off to war he went when the leave
had ended, however many years
have passed since those days

Together they had four children
and could not have ever asked
for a better life

Not a very special story, but it
is a true one, and to look back
in life now, you wonder how
inspite of it all, still remained
a faithfull husband and an adoring
father

As God took him home, he knew
he had lived, loved, and blessed with
the best children a man could have
Those were his Blessings of Life..........
In memory of Thomas J Collins Sr.

We find stories from real life histories only, it is said the soldiers who have a family are more earnest, and they are not brutal or arrogant, for the passions had learned to organize with patience… I liked reading this sincere piece…. Abha

The poetry of the soul in which its music flows through your heart and words sing the continuing reality. Enjoyed it through and through. CP
