[Sheila speaks]:
OK, I was married now; it was time to cut some strings.
I was 28 now, but, leaving home, still some sadness brings.
I guess there were pros and cons, for my Mom and Dad.
But I think for the most part they were pleased …, not sad.
Fred took more time to get adjusted to seeing me less often,
but on 'moving day', a new, big Blue toy horse, my departure sure did soften.
I still stopped in now and then; work was not too far away.
And Cliff and I both stopped some weekends, and every ‘big' holiday.
I kept on paying the ‘apartment' rent, and kept some stuff there.
Cliff and I used it on our visits; it was our little …..'love-lair'.
Most of my stuff we moved to Darien, in a rental truck.
I commuted to work that first winter, and never once got stuck.
I made our Darien home a bit more feminine for me.
We got new bathroom and kitchen curtains. We had an …..X-mas tree.
Our sex life settled down a bit, what with one thing and another.
Sex became more hit-and-run; 'more-relaxed' I told my mother!
I couldn't help but wonder if Cliff ever thought of Ike and Vi.
I thought of her, though less often; to forget her I did NOT try.
When Cliff was sluggish in bed one night, I used the 'Vi-word'.
He pumped faster, said 'Maybe next year'. My heart fluttered like a bird.
I met some of his co-workers, and we entertained some of his neighbors,
but we pretty much stuck to ourselves, during our play-times, and our labors.
He usually had supper partly prepared, .....when I got home at night.
Later we rinsed dishes and collected them in dishwasher, out of sight.
[Clifford speaks]:
Well, it wasn't all 'hit-and-run', especially on our days off.
And some days Sheila would call work to say 'I'll be late. I have a little cough.'
I don't know what they thought when she did that, …. sounding fine,
but my teller job was afternoons, so those mornings she was mine!
Having mornings off, I also was the one to make coffee and fix her toast.
It made me feel more domestic, and I was glad to be her host.
Most of my writing I did mornings; my manuscript was nearly done.
I enjoyed seeing my name and ‘work' in print, and writing it was fun.

I hope there's more....this was great reading. The end is a cliffhanger...where's Vi? ? What happens next? Where does the marriage go from here? Cliff? ? Sheila? ? Don't go!
