Coward Poem by Marieta Maglas

Coward

Rating: 5.0

I'm in this form having
walls and ceilings,
well constructed. I'm

a thinking form. I'm
the keeper of
my idea. I'm
in this cave of
my conscience. I'm
in the solitude of
self, where only
forming forms of dreams
coexist with me. I'm

in the shadow of
my form. I'm the keeper
of everything I am and
everything I have, but

I cannot fight against
this coward that lives
inside of me, when I
need to open this door
of self to throw out
everything is useless and
to save the meaning of
the things I have to keep.

yes, everybody has coward in him, But everyone has his own excuse, I have family and I have to work and earn, May it is true that I earn a lot, and not for me, But for the one believe me, Yet sometimes complain that no one believe another It is not cowardice, but love of life, I love my friends more than me, I am ready to die, Etc, etc., all bogus and lie! The coward in me need no fight, As in reality lazy and fear to fight, Fear to see that blinding light and Fear see one's own death, Plight felt better than fight! Excellent, Thank you!

The same idea I do develop in my poem 'My own walls'.The same to be found in Cavafis' poem 'WALLS' AND R.Tagore's 'Dungeon' I like your point of view.

From: Rajendran Muthiah (Porur, Chennai-600116 India; Male; 62) To: Marieta Maglas Date Time: 7/23/2012 6: 12: 00 PM (GMT -6: 00) Subject: coward Self-introspecting lines! As you, a thinking creature, are in the cave of your conscience, probing of it is easier. But you are lonely in the shadowy form. Why this gloomy thinking? When you seek to open the doors of conscience to throw out useless things, the cowardly conscience ties your hands. It is true that 'conscience does make cowards of us all'.(I think this line is in Hamlet by Shakespeare) .The noble, introspecting soul of Hamlet procrastinates his killing of the murderer of his father. You aren't an introvert; harp on strange themes.Reading the title, I thought that you would be slandering someone. But a wonderful free verse poem is there dreaming in the cave of conscience.Excellent.
