Cry Of The Nations Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Cry Of The Nations

Nations keep moving on with their own itineraries,
as one country keeps hosting World Cup in football,
another country keeps hosting Grammy Awards;
but no one cares to change the plight of war-torn nations;

if one country is at war and facing devastation,
another country is protesting to seek their own freedom;
Presidents, Prime Ministers, United Nations and World leaders
all in vain trying to curb global tensions and unrests;

how will peace ever return if adamancy prevails
how will humanity ever be restored if war continues
and hostility keeps playing its tune promoting tragedies;
will the world not hear the pleas when the sounds are so loud?

as many bombs keep falling in Ukraine
many people keep facing injustice in Iran;
as many atrocities keep occurring in Afghanistan and Yemen
many acts of violence and cruelty war torn countries;

how will the world ever breathe and live in harmony
how will one help another if enmity keeps reiterating;
no one cares about the problems of another country
no one can change the circumstances of bitter hostility;

but if the world should be a better place
it is now that unity and strength should bind with courage
and move on to those war-torn countries with determination
to stop the carnage, the devastation and dilapidation;

nations must assemble with solidarity in its full capacity
and discourage the war, stop the protests in other countries
and help to re-establish freedom and justice
to those helpless nations who fight in achieving their goals;

if only could peaceful nations curb their public events
of fun and frolic, of entertainment and amusement
they could invest the same money and energy
to restore the discipline and serenity in those nations
which are struggling to regain their peace and freedom.
