Death In Paradise Poem by Paula Glynn

Death In Paradise

Death in paradise
Murder does take its toll
Blood on evil hands
Mud smearing ugly faces
Dead bodies to be found in shock
Lying in the hot foreign terrain

Those guilty feeling the pain
Feeling the never ending shame
Police to thoroughly investigate
Murders in supposed paradise
Murders of unwittingly blind tourists
Tourists brutalised and all too dead

No matter how severe the crime
The killer is always caught
Put in prison to do deserved time
But the victim's family members
Only have brief snatches
Of the turmoil they suffer in prison

Tourists to have dreams
Of excitement and world travel
To take their bulging back pack
To go on boats, trains and airplanes
Believing the world safe
But a killer waits in paradise

The tourist to wander earth
Even with all its mirth
Believing murder impossible
That they'll return safely home
Instead buried in a foreign country
Never knowing their fate until too late

But justice will be served
And the murder victims
Now reside in the holy heaven
Their short lives never wasted
Their valuable time on earth
To be treasured and remembered

And now safety is paramount
To never go to private properties
To never accept lifts in a car
To never even deal drugs
Or go out in unknown territories
Or wander around late at night

Stick to the tourist roads
Stick to the tourist trails
Stick to public buses
Use your common sense
And have your phone with you
And never trust anyone

Lives having been lost
But the killer's life
They now to owe a debt
When they murdered the innocent in paradise
Where they grabbed a weapon
And nastily with a weapon crept

Blood on their hands
Impossible to wash off
No matter the soap used
Sweat on their backs
Impossible to wash off
No matter the soap used

Follow safety guidelines
And you'll return safely home
And know the world will
Always remember those
That lost their short lives
Because of the murderous guilty

People to forever remember
All those lost on their travels
To remember their humour
Their fun sides and their quirks
Their love and affection
To support families with sympathy

Who do remember as they grieve
Proud of what their family member
Did achieve by going to paradise
For facing the world with confidence
And reaching immortality
In the real paradise that is God.
