Devi Maha Sarasvati
Sarasvati Devi! I bow down humbly before You!
Supreme Goddess in pure white,
Splendorous form of abundant light,
Seated on a shimmering white lotus,
So beautiful and so serene!
At the dawn of creation,
Floating on a lotus petal,
Languishing like a mermaid,
0 Devi! You cascaded down
From the mighty Himalaya!
Those golden days when you descended,
From the mighty Himalayan mountains
As the sparkling river Sarasvati
You sprinkled down the vibrant energy
Into the valley below!
The valley sprouted,
Flourished with prosperity,
And blossomed into a place of learning!
The seeds of intelligence flowered
Into light of knowledge and wisdom!
Having accomplished your deed
Of making men wise and erudite,
You ascended up the blue skies
Riding on a snow white swan,
A breathtaking vision of delight!
Your persona of extreme grace,
Dazzling like a pure white crystal,
With the fragrance of white jasmine,
Draped in a white silk saree,
Enchanting and adorable!
When I visualize your awesome form
I stand transfixed with wonder!
I know you to be the embodiment of purity
I am aware of your bounteous knowledge,
I can feel the powerful vibration emanating from you! !
O Mother! Help me!
Help me to rise above all mundane physical attractions,
Help me to ride beyond the modifications of my fickle mind,
Help me to hold the reigns of my tempting mind,
Help me to remain calm and peaceful like a pure soul!

The final goal of a spiritual mind is to achieve victory over the shadripu (six basic enemies) embedded by the almighty in human mind. Complete surrender with devotion before different manifestations of the Aadi- shakti/Parmatman is, in my opinion made through meager knowledge, is a way to pursue salvation(dissolving one's soul and self with the Parmatman) . The poem Maha Sarasvati (an extract from your book) amply shows that you have traversed quite a distance in pursuit of the said goal. My Namaskar to you, Ratnakar ji, The philosophy of 'Devi Mahatmyam', as you have rightly comprehended, revolves around the subjugation of the vices that is deeply embedded in our minds. The worship of 'Adi Parashakti' helps us to gain control over our mind and emerge victorious after a great amount of effort and constant persuasion of a spiritual goal. It has given me immense joy to write in praise of Goddess, but i most humbly feel that i still have a long, long way to go in my spiritual journey.
