do you know what it's like...
to have nowhere to go,
nowhere to turn,
no one to talk to,
no one who cares,
no one who will listen?
to lose everything you've worked for?
to be homeless, hungry, and broke?
to feel the anger of hopelessness?
to act out of desperation?
think for a moment tonite...
do you know how many people
are in this position?
these people are just like you!
and but for a simple twist of fate,
you could be there too!
do you know what it's like?
do you give a damn?
Eric, we have millions of them in our regions, South America and Africa. They are dirt poor and have no access to any kind of comfort, so they may not know what you talked about here. Good thought! !

A great poem, like you say it only takes a twist of fate, its all it took with me, its well over twenty years ago but i will never ever forget it. it made me a stronger person, but it could have gone the other way. Everybody says they will always be there, but when you need them, you can't find them anywhere. these days i have good people round me, but if that twist of fate ever came back round i would fight it how i did last time, by myself. I know people would be there for me but i trust myself more than others to look after me. a fantastic poem.
