Drinking Beer Doesn'T Help

Rating: 5.0

Life is becoming a pain.
It’s making me go insane.
I need something to block this!
It’s not like I’m going to miss
Any of this happening here.
So go get me a beer!
Let me drink the night away.
I won’t remember it the next day.
Let me live my life this way!
A few months have come and gone
I’m still not done and it’s almost dawn.
I have to get up off this seat.
I need to stand on my own two feet!
I need to make life mine again.
I need to breathe again!
I finally stand and pay the man
Now let’s see just what I can
Do to get the hell out of here.
It’s a life like this I fear.
Why would I put myself into this?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
G. Murdock 30 July 2009

I am the torturer. I am the critic. I'm killing myself and I don't know why. Beer is my medicine. Medicine doesn't mask the pain inside. Life is truly an inside job. If you can't save yourself, save someone else.
