His Version:
Head bowed, hands folded, you stand
at the edge of the only available Heaven.
You wait for ordinary miracles to occur.
Behind us, steadfast parishioners pray.
The long dense line from this morning has
thinned to just these true believers. I think
it matters less and less whether or not those
seeking transformation achieve their final
goals. We truly belong to the Earth, not Heaven.
And everything we touch and taste and feel,
everything we know and desire is of the Earth.
I stand by you near an invisible threshold
you will cross without me. You wait
for Heavens's grace, myself for Earth's reply.
Her Version:
Why Not? was my question to you
all those years ago, when we first met
and we both knew for the first time
the giddy joy of true love. There has always
been only you for me and only me for you.
We succeeded so well in becoming one that
we could exchange our minds and live the day
as the other person. The morning of our life
in love has never darkened into afternoon,
much less into night. We have been ever and
always suffused in light. And so my question
is still, Why Not? Bend your stubborn knees,
kneel, and declare Jesus Christ is your Lord
and Savior, and together we will slip into Eternal Life.
heaven on earth is available and available heaven becomes hell when you search for heaven on earth with your thoughts of whims and fancies- thanks for sharing such a wonderful poem
1) A woman needs a man higher spiritually than she is. That is the law of spiritual nature and if you go against it - such a unit will fail. 2) you can't make smn to bow to Christ or any other faith, because God opens only HIMSELF directly to a person when a person is ready in his qualities. Any violence here is impossible and even simple talk is futile. I'm SURE of that. out of my experience and books, and even my communication with you. No result. But Gods works with them also loving them but out of being concealed. that's are two attitudes which I see in your poem. But the talk of comparison of two people who are deep in their faith already, and maybe different - that could be extremely interesting.
The non-believer vs. the believer. We will always have both with us. Your poem makes people think, and that is a good thing.
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE BOTH WITH US, That is such a fine insight into the dynamics of belief/nonbelief. This relates to the quality of life our stances gives us. Your thinking extends the poem past the limits in which I wrote, and that is a good thing! !

Wonderful poem. We truly belong to earth and not heaven.....and the desire to ship to heaven together are such strong emotions and finding some harmony among it has been just as important. It is said in many eastern traditions that man and women guide each other at different times of life.
