I stood in deep and reverent awe
And looked upon those evening skies,
A rich and seamless sea of gold
That through the clouds did weave,
As shadows fell so long and dark
And crept across the grassy field,
Then slowly melted to the dusk
That still September's eve.
The embers smouldered in the hearth
As warming coals that held the light,
In rings of peace then floated by
And cooled as they went past,
Till swallowed by the mouth of time
And lost unto the ash that fell,
Each took away a part of me
Like dreams that could not last.
The trees then touched the fading hues
And stood like autumn silhouettes,
Above the sleeping foreground
As their branches calmly rose,
A breathless hush then filled the air
Upon the setting of the sun,
Those fingered rays before me shone
As day drew to a close.

It is in those still moments that creation has its genesis. This poem is gold indeed. May the music never end. Warm wishes, Sandra
Your words are the color of amber as you share the images of your poet's eye. A graceful and contemplative poem painted with authority and the softest brush. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
You have painted such a glorious picture Andrew and I felt I was there looking to the skies with you. You are in the season of colorful Autumn and we are in Spring. The last stanza is so peaceful and serene... 10 love Karin
