Fallen Stars.... - Poem by Elise Rocheleau

This is dedicated to all the children and adults who deal with divorce and the seperation of a loved one. This is how i felt, hopefully someone else connects with it....

Stars fall from the heavens,
Granting us one chance,
to fix what is lost,
or what has been erased.
As days pass on to years,
right under our noses,
We miss the intent of our journey.

Mishaps and Mistakes govern
our atmosphere.
Shaping our souls into
Mindless shapes with only
Fractions and equations
Unable to respond to compassion.

Stripped of all honesty and loyalty,
What are we but wanderers in the dark,
Wandering through the darkness,
without a candle,
without a light...

Stumbling through the darkness trying,
trying to invent a way out
and escape,
a loop-hole,
Something......

Trying to make something that will be forgot,
Forged unto the paved walk way we stroll
In danger of being obsolete,
OBSOLETE, that is what we are,
Walking along a set path,
Pointing fingers at others in hopes.....

In hopes of what? ......
Forgetting what we are,
Who I am inside,
All the pain that has been dished out on a decaying platter,
The hopes and dreams of little children that has been lost,
Forgotten among the expanses of time.

Unwilling to change,
Ignorant of the truth,
Only arguing to those that can better our selves,
Not speaking, as though our throats are dry,
Unable to speak for those worse off than I,

A stir in the crowd,
Someone raises their hand,
Only to speak words that burn inside,
Waiting to come out,
Burning the soul of the one who holds on to it,
Killing every being in its presence,
Holding every whisper near,

“Shame, ” spoke the weary man
“Shame on those who waste time on silly things,
only to be left with nothing,
What Human would do such a thing? I tell you only a fool.”

Rebuttal, defiance, rebellion
All struck in an instant
No more waiting at the door,
All arms are open,
Every ones Welcome,
Hello, Good-Bye,
A quick glance in the eye,
A dime here
A penny there,

Wow, now I don’t feel as bad
I gave a little,

Every thing counts,
Now their $30 short,
If only I gave a little more,
Im afraid,
Im scared,
Leave me alone,

Close the door,
Lock my heart,
Now nothing can hurt me again,
Shut out the world,
Close my eyes,

Now im Blind,
I cant see,
Im safe,
Not free,
I have to get out,
But what waits for me? ......
I cant go out,
I wont go out,
I’ll live here,
I’ll die here,
You’ll be hard pressed to make me move,

A star falls from the sky,
I see it through my window,
I cant get out,
If only I could,
I would wish to be free,
Of these barren walls,
And empty space,

If only I could wish upon a star.........
