There is a message somewhere written
Etched in the annals of time
In that message a list of names
And on that list is mine
Would rather you not assemble
In some quaint house of prayer
Instead go on your daily way
As if I were still there
And recollect some thoughts of me
Whatever comes to mind
Then sing that song to my memory
When..at last...it comes..my time
but you are there my friend if only in the memory of those who knew you Or as I believe presnt in finer form o being
This is so warm, and humble of you in my oppion......I am sure your memory will be held dearly amounst though who know you well......... Bonnie

Song alike poem, easy to remember, easy to remember the author who wrote it.
Notwithstanding the circumstances, I append: cute: to this awesome poem. Like out of a leaf of classical work, your page is neat and amazing. arya
A truly evocative poem! Great Work! You inspire me to read more of your poems, which I will attempt to do in due course - in at least a measure of the same respect that you allow a thoughtful reader to fully grasp your meaning... Sorry if that sentence sounds unintelligible - all I mean is that ypur subjects demand considered thought, and therefore time to appreciate them! david
James B. thank you for your comment, and nice to meet you on this Poetry Express. Your poems are of a higher order in theme, pace and construction and a pleasure to read. All the better for their subtlety, and crediting the reader with intelligence and imagination. Thank You
For me, I thought that would be the way it would be. I would go, peacefully, or unpeacefully, but without remembrance. But like a fool, I started writing poetry, so there will always be a trace that I lived, as long as Humanity lives. Not that I care, because I won't be aware of it anyway.
Lovely sentiment. Your poetry is timeless and I suspect that you will be remembered and read for a very long time.

Yes, celebrate your life and remember you alive and not laying there in a box. I agree wholeheartedly, I too want to be remembered in a bright and cheerful way. I've asked my daughter to make sure there's lots of singing when I'm on my way out, just as we did for my husband Richard when his turn came. We sang spirituals and his favourite song 'Summertime' on the last note of 'Summertime' he took his last breath. I still can't believe how blessed we were that day, God never left us. Thanks James for this wonderful poem of yours, it's truly beautiful and sparked a very beautiful memory. Melvina
