Fragrant Moments. Poem by Fay Slimm

Fragrant Moments.

Rating: 5.0

To imbibe fragrance
................................... is to feel alive.
Scent comes, breath-borne
.........................into the mind, events
Of daylight bring blossoms,
............................... which only thrive
In petal-spun perfumed time,
.................................. and are meant
To lift each inhaler
............................... to soar skyward.

You gave me fragranced Spring,
........................... wafting love words.
The air vibrated
...................with sweet- violet replies,
Which when mixed,
..............such spicy aromas occured.

Moments now burst
............. with odoured amour, power
Us with fine essence,
.................... and perfume our hours.

Hi Fay - I like your poetic style with lots of........................................... which allows us to read - what we will - between your lines! It is free verse with no costarint of metre or rhyme. This allows you gret freedom of words. You make good use of thsi freedom. I am a Chemist with an interest in aromatherapy and this is a very fragrant poem. The delicacy of the sense of smell in seduction is very very important as is the 'sublty' of perfume. The affect of fragrance is deliciously described in the opening verse (5 lines) - it makes us 'feel alive' 'open minded' and 'uplifted'. In verse two (3 lines) you remind us that spring is a very emotive and fragrant season. 'Wafting love words' vibrate the air and there is a symbiosis of 'mixed spice aromas'. In verse three (2 lines) there is a climax of 'odoured amour' and 'perfumed hours'. If men would take the time to understand the symbolism and techniques of Aromatherapy - their ladies would have much to smile about! I love your poem - love you in Poetry - JOHN.

Hi Fay - Lovely poem with form - rhyme and rhythm. This is very appropriate in a poem about scents. The study of AROMATHERAPY reveals that fragrances are specific to individuals - a scent that complements their personality. Fragrances are also specific to places and - in our memories - to very special occasions! In you poem you remind us of the effect of fragrances: they 'Enliven' 'Enhance love' 'Uplift' a beautiful elegant poem well deseving of a TEN for a super-Poetess! Love in poetry - JOHN
