In front of colonial Great Hall*
dreams fascinated morning shine
alongside the crowded youth wing, walked
we held in hand a feather soft dream.
In Asquith hostel and Collins library
shared we the conventional
academic uncertainties
covered on one wall of science block
and one curious curved lover’s path
onlookers we sat under a
tamarind tree to watch a game of cricket
the green foliage all around and
one unusual unbiased ambience....
regale the royal memoirs on which
sun seldom set to rise
Clasped branches of gulmohars
and rain filled fragrance of soil
rekindled fancies of teenage...
amidst of pleasing contradictions
and one combined non constructive
unmeasured estimation
on a gilded beam of optimism
plastered we those dreams in millions
and believed it all as
the essential perquisite of
an incandescent future
When years rolled fast on
the wheels of destiny
colors of our dreams faded like pages
of our designer autograph book
as a memoir of our friendship
our heartfelt farewell notes remained there...
like our mindless reflexe of dreams
with no surplus to keep in reserve
remembered we not to go back
the pages of our life to adulate our dreams
or even to remain in contact

Reema, a beautiful piece of poetry giving us a slice from the nostalgic past like the Gulmohar blossoms which I love so much! This maintaining contact depends on initiative & will force! This time during my CAL.visit I had gone to meet an old college friend after 30 long years! I had met his son & saw his face through him, & later learnt from my friend that his wife is down with breast cancer for the last 05 years! Love, - Raj.
