On a bright sunny day
I was drenched in a rain of thoughts
Taste of bygone my mind sought
I looked back and thought
of the roads, I walked and forsook
of the lovers, for saviors I mistook
In the memory stack I rummaged
for a day the clouds swallowed
for a night the nightmares gulped
My mind was clustered with
various sunrises and sunsets
that tinged my limited horizon.

Hi Nosheen, A very beautiful portrayal one's inner being, memories. On a bright sunny day I was drenched in a rain of thoughts- the seemingly contrasting images of 'sunny day' and 'drenched in rain' bring out the restlessness in the mind of the poet. On the other hand, the bright sunny day is spoiled by the dark memories of forsaken roads' and 'lovers who were mistaken for saviors'. Again, in the memory stack, the poet rummages only for 'a day swallowed by clouds' and 'a night gulped by nightmares', signalling the appalling darkness the memories bring with them. The horizons of the poet, she cedes, are limited, and are tinged/colored by sunrises and sunsets, that clutter her mind. The melancholy mood has been pictured by just a few words, with exquisite ease. wonderfully simple-looking poem. but very very deep psychological reverberations. Loved reading.10++
Thank you so much Krishnan. I value your comments a lot. You evaluate a poem like a thoroughly professional critic of literature. Much humbled.
Even on a sunny day we may fail to see the not so distant horizon. Only God can be our savior, others will fail us and cloud us if we get things out of perspective.
read your msg.. good.. your poem will be in the compilation (Part II.) Ciao
Thank you Fabrizio. I'm glad to know. Looking forward. All the best.
Hi Nosheen, what about adding thi poem of yours, 'From The Diary Of A Poet', to the Anthology 'Our Chains, Our Dreams - Part Two''? Let me know if it's ok with you Cheers F.
