Ghostly Doll Poem by Melvina Germain

Ghostly Doll

Rating: 5.0

I bought a doll at an antique shop.
It was a place where I liked to stop.
Homeward bound, we went together.
Winter upon us ooooh stormy weather.

Excited, couldn’t wait to display her.
Eyes of blue and pretty black shoes.
A shimmering taffeta dress,
beautiful rhinestones adorned her hair.
I laid her on my desk.

A beauty she was, in her fancy flair.
Her eyes were strange though, -
they followed me everywhere.
Uncomfortable I was to say the least.
Should I still give her to my niece?

I thought about her day after day,
Many strange happenings came my way.
I laid her on my desk, but found her on
the floor.
I closed everything up, yet found an
open door.

She was a rather beautiful doll,
39 inches, or more- very tall.
Cute as a button you might say.
Think I’m going to get rid of her today.

I wrapped her in tissue paper,
Laid her in the back seat of my car.
Drove until I was so far away,
Had to find a place for her to lay.

I dropped her from a cliff, stood and
watched her drift.
Brushed my hands together, thought
I was quite clever.

Drove home, smiling all the way.
A feeling of relief, here to stay.
A huge sigh as I entered my home.
Heard the ringing of my telephone.

Hurried to my office to answer the call.
There on my desk was that old antique doll.

Haha. Just like its title, its a ghostly amusing poem. Told in a subtle way, it dosen't freak people out that bad, and yet the storyline is there. Won; t want one of those dalls though...><
