Gilded Leaves Poem by Fiona Davidson

Gilded Leaves

Sunshine on gilded leaves
Sparkling bright and clear
Tips of branches poke through
To find the last of summers days

Gold turns to crimson and scarlet
Rich rubies dazzling our eyes
Floating down to earth again
Like flames through the air

Crushed and broken they lay
Upon the forest floor in drifts
Played in by children laughing
Thrown back into mid-air

A scattering of pleasure flows
Through the skies and away
