God Is Found Only In The Love Of Your Heart
"For silence is not God,
nor speaking is God;
fasting is not God nor eating is God;
loneliness is not God nor company is God;
nor yet any of all the other two such quantities.
He is hid between them,
and may not be found
by any work of thy soul,
but only by love of thine heart.
He may not be known by reason.
He may not be gotten by thought,
nor concluded by understanding;
but he may be loved and chosen
with the true lovely will of thine heart.
Such a blind shot
with the sharp dart of longing love
may never fail
of the prick, the which is God"

hi, tony! first, i thank you again for posting things that matter, that are uplifting. two things came to mind reading this quote. one, paul saying, let him who boasts boast in the Lord- for it is only by grace and not through effort that God touches us. two, what we find in rumi and hafez about the importance of longing- longing which is like an empty bowl, an empty bowl that God can fill. regarding the heart and meeting God there, this is how i understand it: God is spirit. and the heart is the seat of the spirit in us. therefore, it is logical (and confirmed in my experience) that spirit talks with, communicates with, spirit. be blessed. glen
