Gods Carpet Poem by Annette Aitken

Gods Carpet

Rating: 5.0

There's To Many Holes In gods Carpet

I looked up at the sky at night
see the holes emitting light
from the living room, bed room, even the hall
they shine on us from up above
for every hole his carpet has
the light escapes down here somehow
the twinkling of the little stars
look like diamonds from afar

For every hole, that's made by us
through not believing, or giving up
where war is now a common place
with people fighting in the streets
from all his pacing back and forth
the hurt that started off those holes
from every hole, that's in gods carpet
let's lend a hand, let's try to mend it.

There's to many holes in gods carpet

Great poem, your work is growing so much and I love the direction you are taking. I hope one day your sentiments come true and we can finally have a world full of peace and light.

i TOLD God to not buy at the 'Discount Carpet Center! ! ! i like the image of 'stars' being light shining from Heaven-Central, through holes in carpeting. i read a poem on PH not too long ago about 'rain'(?) being drops from Heavenly leaking plumbing. was that your poem also? i don't think so. bri :))

This is quite imaginative and lovely. I could picture the Top Guy above pacing up and down in dispair and wearing his carpet thin! Like all true poets, the images you create simply get into one's mind and seem to find a cozy place there to cuddle up.

'There's to many holes in gods carpet' yes yet hard to believe, war started in heaven then spread to earth, war started in heaven which we perceive to be paradise is a hard to believe contradiction in concept; the easiest place to start mending holes would be mending holes nearest too us, taking holes in our stride.

For the stars are but Gods footprints in the sky which shines through the holes of our making, your passion for poetry is a wonderful thing to observe my friend, never stop reaching for more.
