Hard Landing.... Poem by Reva Kern

Hard Landing....

Once a strong wind blew furiously
Throughout the whole city
As well as a sense of personal failure
Leaving behind revealing traces
To the multitude -

The eye only sees another day -
Catching sight of night
Days are heaped with shoving, pushing humanity -
Then one night
A girl appeared two feet away -
She spoke to me
Only because summer arrived
And because there was a strong wind -

I put my hand in my pocket
Walked steadily on the side of the street
Ten women, wearing brightly-colored clothes
Converge, lie down stretch out their legs -
I followed
The strong wind blows towards me
I feel like I'm floating -
First my waist, hips,
Then my skin -
Feel like I have no hair, no joints -
I stop -
Quietly looking around, I slowly stretch out
My hand
Wanting to caress her forehead -
She turns aside
As does the image of romantic love
Like some ancient gene sent down
To ensnare -
At this moment
I am the whole universe -
I put candy in my mouth
It pops, crackles -
Sounds only I am able to hear
The echoes of melancholy
