Haunted Poem by Sonya Annita Song

Haunted

Rating: 5.0

I stared into the heart of darkness
For what comfort I could find
Somewhere in the beating madness
Feeding arteries of my mind.

Obscured by shadows everywhere,
I wondered what I'd left behind -
Upon a throne sat grim despair,
Feeding arteries of my mind.

I asked, "What are you doing here? "
He looked at me; his gaze was blind.
He said it was because of fear,
Feeding arteries of my mind.

"I do not think that I'm afraid, "
Defiantly, I said in kind,
"Of letting go. Enough, " I bade,
"Feeding arteries of my mind."

And then he laughed and scratched his head.
"But you're the one who has assigned
Me to this task, " is what he said
While feeding arteries of my mind.

A beautiful creation, well conceived and elegantly brought forth in rhythmic splendour. Thanks for sharing Sonya and do remain enriched.
