Before the world
Knew how to die,
The earth was ageless
Like the sky;
It knew no grief
And had no fear
Of pain or death
Or sorrows near.
And then one day
Mankind was born -
A seed was planted
On that morn -
A warning spread
Throughout the land:
Beware the heavy
Hand of Man.
For when he came
He did not see
The beauty and
The purity;
He sought to take
And never give,
He sought to kill
Instead of live.
And when the first
Sad creature died,
A shadow to the
Earth was tied;
A darkness rose
From deep within -
The birth of
Unremitting sin.
The Heavy Hand of Man.... nothing more needs to be said. Beautiful poem on an ugly truth!
