....heaven above loosed them on earth below
.....(with ears aflicker and eyes aglow)
...........tick by tock tock by tick
.....they feel their feelings just like us
.
.....fillies and colts (moments in rhyme)
..they leap their turn they gambol their time
.......into the sun out of the moon
.........their souls in their eyes
.
......stallions trumpet (raining thunder)
.......fight for freedom but fall asunder
...........tock by tick tick by tock
..tails like banners now flagging and sagging
.
......how their hearts once spun a spell
....nickered a greeting neighed a farewell
......bodies in harness and legs in mud
.......lower their heads high no more
.
.......some dreamed of wind some of fire
..danced through lightning raced through mire
..........(stand sleep wake and work)
.....they neighed hello and watched us go
.
...........their souls in their eyes
....(God clothed their neck in magnificence
....we clothe them in scars but they forgive
......with ears aflicker and eyes aglow)
.
.....saddled and bridled worked and wrecked
......(no man took time to pat their neck)
.....toiled day by day groaned side by side
.......strain by strain and slip by slide
.
......plow up the field drag down the pride
.........kill pen alive in their stride
......horses caught between heaven and hell
............tick by tock tock by tick
.
........fillies and colts (myth and magic)
............tick by tock tock by tick
........came in wild fire and left in rain
.......souls in their eyes their eyes in pain
.

Susan, Don't know if my comments and vote (10) registered. I'll check tomorrow. Great poem. great galloping rhythm. Tom Billsborough
Thank you, Soran, for reading my version of Anna Sewell's Black Beauty
A rare poem in the subject and theme, words, images and expression, it is composition known only by a poet who lives with the horses and is familiar with their innocent world. It is also considered to be one of the best hobbies and has its originality.5 /5 with kind regards

Ever such beautiful heart and soul! .. Their spirit and majestic beauty has always touched me so! .. I always loved watching them run so free! .. And always been so deeply moved by the depth in their eyes! .. Though I've only seen them mostly on tv. :) Thank you again ever so much for sharing this! .. Rebecca! Thank you for reading about the sad plight of some of our giant friends that God created to help us with the chores of life that we cannot handle, to see as our friends in the hours of our heartbreaks, to love and be our fun companions when our hearts are light. Thank you for those excited 10; s dancing around and around.
You can make a horse do what you want, their names often signify some quality, thoroughbred, style and action, as often termed perfect but who understands their feelings......unkind, callous, crude and inhuman people are......Susan.......title of the poem is outstanding and contents so beautifully poetized......10++++++
Most horses can be made to do what you want- but the quality of the response would probably be poor- -and there are horses who will either dog it or fight you hoof and teeth and they are bigger... but God bless them, they are mostly such gentle and willing animals and can be loved into loving back. They are such magnificent friends and allies. Thank you, Deepak, for understanding their plight. And thank you for the 10 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Susan, this is simply exquisite...what an amazing feeling- i felt God's presence and saw all of God's beautiful creatures...gifts to us as our lifetime goes by. Could easily see the final book in the Bible.as well. Time it moves also for the creatures we love and use...here today and gone tomorrow-our hearts filling with sorrow. If you want to know, look to their eyes and see their soul....lessons of life learned- -so much love returned... much love for us- -all too real. Could picture you on your horse within the glow - of the God so many of us know! Thank you for bringing me even closer to my creator. Had no idea about this published poem but knew just from reading you- that you, my dear, have been given a gift. Now, we have the joy in reading you this day on this site. This comes at a perfect time for me- as the baby dove we rescued was set free today...Now this is real poetry...i could read your words everyday and never tire. Thank you for sharing this life touching work. A 10+++++++++++++++++ Theo
Thank you for your continuing kindness, you and the other poets here have made me feel that maybe I belong here with you all. You, Theo, are so particularly encouraging! ! ! You called this a life-touching work- -I do not believe that a higher compliment could be paid to a poem, my dear dear friend.
