Holiday Time
Holiday time to some people,
Means a good long rest.
For others it means a chance,
To do what they like best.
Some jump in their cars,
Travel mile after mile.
The further off away from home,
The wider is their smile.
Some settle down with a book,
And lots and lots to eat.
Just relaxing from a busy life,
For them is quite a treat.
Then there are those who crave excitement,
Night life to them is all play.
It matters not if they have to,
Sleep through the oncoming day.
One of us might choose the seashore,
While another picks a lake.
And those who like a quiet life,
A mountain stream would take.
But yours it is to make the choice,
You'd better be on your way.
Your Holiday time is yours alone,
So make the most of every day.

Charming celebration of vacation! Good to be in a poem! Usually I read a book on vacation too and have a different experience of literature than amidst the hubbub of regular daily life.

Wow, what a wonderful poem that most of us, if not all, can relate. This poem resonates with me especially the third stanza but food is in moderation. Beautifully crafted and well executed write.
