Hymn To Poetry Poem by Sandra Feldman

Hymn To Poetry

Rating: 5.0

Wonder of wonders, Poetry,
Going forth so fancy free,
There are poems for all tastes,
Nothing seems to go to waste,
Full of feelings and impressions,
That may help relieve our tensions,
Everybody gets some thrill,
Sometimes even a slight chill,
From the snows of Kilimanjaro,
To the feeling of sweet sorrow,
It is great to be so free,
Dreams alive for you and me,
As long as there's Poetry.

Each line is my favourite but these two are the most.. Dreams alive for you and me, As long as there's Poetry

That's a great positive poetic message. I couldn't agree more! My short time on PoemHunter has been a great experience for me. After so many years, I've rediscovered my passion for poetry and literature. I like hearing your female voice in all of this poetry. I love your wise pieces, spoken musically and simply! :)

Hymn is the right word for this poem - it's a song of praise and celebration (I checked a dict'y to be accurate) and you do both: Praise poetry for keeping our dreams alive, relieving tension and promoting freedom-three things that make life sweeter, more meaningful; Celebrate poetry because it is the WONDER OF WONDERS.It feels good to read these things and then to say them again in this message box. We must affirm what we love, always. At the end of his life Wallace Stevens wrote a poem beginning: WHAT IS THERE TO LOVE I HAVE NOT LOVED? That's what we should all be able to say!
