If You Cannot Write A Love Song Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

If You Cannot Write A Love Song

Rating: 5.0

For when you can't express yourself
And words come hard to you,
The feelings you can't capture
And you don't know what to do,
While rhythms and the melodies
Are lost in clouds above,
If you cannot write a love song then
You've never been in love.

For if your heart just can't be touched
Emotionless like stone,
If only joy does fill your soul
You've never been alone,
If all the lines just fail to rhyme
And each one seems a strain,
If you cannot write a love song then
You've never felt the pain.

When the page is blank in front of you
And you don't know what to say,
Just spare a thought for those of us
Who've always felt that way,
When years have gone with chances passed
And dreams have floated by,
If you cannot write a love song then
You've never learnt to cry.

This is a beautiful poem Andrew. I think it is one of your best, it has a depth to it I find very touching. There is such a fine line between poetry and music. A pleasure to read. Ann
