And so the first fine snowflakes fell,
Onto cold frosty ground,
Winter had truly arrived,
And with it came that wonderful sound,
The sweet little robin,
His song filled the air.
The hawthorn tree now full,
With berries galore,
Where numerous birds gathered,
As they so often did before,
In this, their winter paradise,
Where days were harsh,
But the berries were nice.
As night time came,
And the birds bedded down to sleep,
Many deer roamed in the snow so deep,
It was that time of year again,
Deep in the forest,
Way over the glen,
Nature had created its winter scene,
In waiting for spring,
When the leaves would grow again,
So luscious and green.
