Johnny Boy - Poem by Michael Krutulis

My best friend, my brother, my hero,
Thank you for showing me how to fight,
Thank you for showing me what’s right,

Thank you for all the laughs we shared,
Thank you for telling me how much you cared,
Thank you for pushing me to my best,
Thank you for not letting me be like the rest,

I wish you were still here in my life,
I wish you could be here to meet my wife,
I wish I could do something to have you back,
I wish we could get our friendship back on track,

My world right now is so cold,
But I remember what you told me, stay gold.
I miss those days,
We would go out with not a care in the world,

All the trouble we would get in to,
Facing consequences when we got home,
We shared many fun times together,
I wish we could bring those back,

Now you’re up there watching over me,
And I know it was for the best,
But here I am without you,
Not knowing what to do next.
In loving memory of John McNicholas
