Labour Day Poem by Nosheen Irfan

Labour Day

Rating: 5.0

one who lays brick after brick
to make you a house
deserves a decent house too

one who often falls to death
from the upper storey of a skyscraper
deserves to rise socially too

one who sweats in the sun
dehydrated to the bones
deserves a hearty meal too

one who carries load on head
for a meager amount in return
deserves more than a temporary roof

respect the soul that earns
working with sun-burnt hands
acknowledge, with open heart
the dignity of labor

You touched the heart with those examples==with the pandemic, we are seeing the importance and essentialness of many many jobs that have often been taken for granted- -the stocker at the grocery store, the garbage man, the UPS man, the plumber and the list goes on. Maybe this virus will instill some much needed humility and thankfulness in people. 10+++++++

A vivid picture of labourer has been satutely delineated by you on account of labour day. Actually labourers are leading risky lives. Brilliant inscription.10

Wow a great inspiring tribute to all manual and menial workers that are vital to society as we need them so much and yes rich people ESP should help them out in return. Kudos for a compassionate poem. Plz do read and comment my newest poem too, titled, ' miraculous birds seen in sacred sanctuary'
