Let Me Sing A Song Poem by Dr Dillip K Swain

Let Me Sing A Song

Rating: 5.0

Let me smile
And let me sing a song!

What a mad pursuit
To gain the only chair?

Fierce competition!
Where from I came
And where will I go?

All powerful kingdoms
Have been turned into dust
And mighty kings
have passed away
Leaving on the sands of time
Their wealth, power,
Position and possession!

Let me sing a song
of nothingness!

I see dust particles,
Only dust and dust,
It is here, there
And even before
The birth of Chaucer!

Your fine poem brings to mind the famous lines by Thomas Gray, 'All the paths of glory lead but to the grave.' An excellent work.
