Light In The Night Poem by Kesav Venkat Easwaran

Light In The Night

The sun stopped peeping secretly through the green leaves
The shadows lengthened and silently grew to size
The ghosts in them came to life, expressing their glee
The forest was courting the wild darkness it seized

The men in the camp noticed a friend missing
They sat around the fire lit to guard off mute fears
Their prayers died out in the boredom of the night
Where has he gone, fallen prey to brutes and bears?

Next morn, as the east broke up, they rushed out to find
They spotted him sitting on a rock, a stream beside
The poet, unruffled, with a gleam in his eyes was
seen writing about the light, he conceived yesterday night

A beautiful poem crafted by a highly creative and brilliant mind. Poetry can take us to that realm where there is no bounds. It can come with the wonders of nature anywhere and anytime and holds us spellbound.

How true! Unconscious of dangers, he was busy writing his heart into works of art, feeling himself entirely surrounded by a tapestry of beauty. The title is subtle and perfect and it drew me in, Kesav.
