Lilith Poem by Valerie Dohren

Lilith

Rating: 4.1

The Garden blossoms well, my dear,
As there you wait for me
But do not think to take my soul
I will not bow to thee

And I will sit beyond, my dear,
(The Dark Moon high above)
One hundred buds each day shall die
Before I give my love

This flower to your call won`t bend
Nor will I lie beneath
For from the earth, as you, I came
I`ll bear no bridal wreath

The Garden blossoms well, my dear,
The mirror calleth me
The Other World shall be my home
Throughout eternity

This is a classical style with some nice use of older language to give that character as with the use of repetition drawing the reader from the beginning to the closure to reinforce the sentiment and air or other worldliness, spiritual.

Superbly constructed and beautifully written. Thank you for sharing this. I know of Lilith my late mother taught me. My magnificent teacher and she would have enjoyed reading your beautiful poem. So I thank you from myself and my late mother. Take care.

We all fall from grace from time to time. We get to climb back up, perhaps not so for Lilith. I loved the gentle cadence of rhyme that permeats this dark allegorical poem.
