Love At Fifty Five - Poem by Kesav Venkat Easwaran

When I tell you
Love at fifty five,
I hear you chuckle;
I see you smile

I hear you say
With penchant eyes,
What a way
To go astray!

Listen! My mate!
To what I say
My love has age,
Years twenty five!

Young to behold
And young in mind
It won’t grey old
A million days!

None can quench
The ocean’s thirst!
The sky can hold
All this abundant light!

Your poetry reminds me of Swami Vivekananda’s disciple Tan Ten {Josephine Macleod] when asked about age she used to tell 2/3 years…Lo! She was young but how can be 2/3 years?

She replied that she counts her age from first meeting with Swami-ji is equal to 2nd birth [spiritual]

Love decreases age...but mind it age is but just a stupid number …has nothing to do with Love’s shelf life of lovers...lolol ...greater the intensity of love no matter what is the MFD and has no ED

    As you told..I smiled
But not the one which you said
but with utost love that still you have a youthful heart to love
    behold it till death
It will make you young day after day
    very good poem

I think this is incorrigibly sweet and I agree completely. Funny how age becomes like
this extra aspect of our persons that is always a threat to make us look ridiculous somehow.

Believe me, love only gets better! Love at sixty-three is pretty good - but not with a partner of twenty five, thank you! I do like to be able to talk to my lover on equal terms! Anyway, your poem flows along nicely! (Report) Reply

I agree with this... NO matter how old we are, IT matters how OLD we are in our hearts! ! Youth can only be measured by the amount of happiness and joy we posses, not by age........

A nice optimistic attitude is there. I love it. But if love is something metaphisical...Beyond all, I love it. (Report) Reply

Like wine love matures with age,
Young love can leave such a bitter taste,
Learning to love the moment and not waste,
Love is better with such a sweet taste... Andrew 10

Love matured has got to be sweeter than Raw, I taste only the half matured.
    Tasty and committed poem.
I wonder how someone might have reacted on this poem.
