Gandhiji regretted,
A neglect of his childhood,
To write beautifully with
A good hand,
A clear mind!
To write with
An impeccable handwriting -
A polished skill,
A high merit,
A remarkable strength,
Years later,
In South Africa,
Gandhiji was amazed
To see fine handwriting
Of lawyers,
Of young educated men!
A comparison
With his own handwriting,
He was shocked,
Ashamed!
Though Gandhiji was convinced
That it was too late to improve
His handwriting;
Yet, he strived to improve
With deliberation and care!
But a neglect, carelessness,
Of his childhood or youth could
Never be rectified or reformed.
Gandhiji affirmed that bad handwriting
Should be regarded as a sign of imperfect education!
'Let every young man and woman be warned
By my example and understand that good handwriting
Is a necessary part of education!
I am now of the opinion that children should first be taught
The art of handwriting before learning how to write!
Let the child learn the letters by observation
As he does different objects such as flowers, birds etc
And let him learn handwriting only
After he has learnt to draw objects! '
So wrote Gandhiji.
Handwriting activates the brain
Improving the cognitive skills;
To be able to read clearly, fluently,
To comprehend the words with clarity
To enhance the visual perception!
A good teacher appreciates a good handwritten paper,
Not a bad scribble,
Indecipherable, incomprehensible!
A good handwriting is the reflection of a
Refined character with a radiant personality!
A refined character! ! With the muse of positive works. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
Yet, he strived to improve With deliberation and care! But a neglect, carelessness, Of his childhood or youth could Never be rectified or reformed.
